Expert Residential & Commercial Tiling Auckland

Tiling is the trade the whole job gets judged on, because it is the part you look at every day. We have been tiling Auckland homes and commercial fitouts since 2016, from a single splashback to a full commercial floor, and we waterproof what goes underneath it ourselves.

What we do

Our tiling services

Every surface has its own build-up, its own movement, and its own way of failing if it is rushed. These are the areas we work in most, each with its own page covering how we approach it:

  • Bathroom tiling - walls, floors, wet rooms, niches and linear drains, over a membrane we install ourselves.
  • Kitchen tiling - floors and splashbacks, cut around joinery, sockets and window reveals.
  • Splashback tiling - the small job with nowhere to hide a bad cut, so the setout is decided before anything is fixed.
  • Commercial tiling - apartments, hospitality, retail and building-manager work, sequenced around other trades and site inductions.
  • Pool tiling - permanently submerged work, where the substrate, adhesive and grout all have to be specified for it.

We also tile decks and balconies. That work sits on a waterproofing membrane and an exterior-rated build-up rather than an internal one, so it is covered on the deck and balcony waterproofing page.

What we do not do is chase leaks, regrout, or patch someone else's tiling. If that is what you need, say so when you enquire and we will tell you honestly rather than quote you for the wrong thing.

How we work

Our process

The same four steps on a splashback as on a commercial floor. The scale changes, the order does not.

  1. Free on-site quote - we come to the property, measure, look at the substrate and the access, and talk through tile choice and setout. You get a written, itemised quote back, so you can see what each part costs instead of one lump sum.
  2. Surface preparation - the part nobody photographs and every failure traces back to. Substrates are checked for movement and moisture, levelled or screeded where they need it, primed, and waterproofed where the area calls for it.
  3. Precision installation - setout is planned so the full tiles land where the eye goes and the cuts land where it does not. Correct adhesive for the tile and the substrate, full coverage behind every tile, consistent joints, movement joints where the standard requires them.
  4. Grouting, sealing and sign-off - grout and silicone to suit the area, a clean down, and a walk-through with you before we leave. Consented work leaves with its PS3 producer statement.
Credentials

Trusted and verified tiling contractor in Auckland

Tiling is not a licensed trade in New Zealand, which means anyone can call themselves a tiler. These are the checks that actually mean something:

  • TANZ member - the Tile Association of New Zealand, the industry body for the trade.
  • PS3 registered author with Auckland Council - we can issue the producer statement council wants for consented waterproofing, because we install the membrane ourselves rather than subcontracting it.
  • Site Safe member - health and safety accreditation, which is what commercial sites and main contractors ask for before you set foot on them.
  • Tiling Auckland since 2016 - with 139 public reviews averaging 4.9 stars across Builders Crack and Google.
  • 10-year workmanship warranty - on top of the tile and membrane manufacturers' own warranties.

One crew owns tiling and waterproofing together. That matters when something goes wrong later, because there is no argument about whose part of the job it was.

Coverage

Serving Auckland and surrounding areas

We work right across the Auckland region, residential and commercial. Most weeks that means bathrooms on the isthmus and the Shore, apartment and fitout work in the city, and full renovations out west and east.

If your suburb is not listed, ask anyway. Travel is factored into the quote up front rather than added later.

Common questions

Before you book

How much does tiling cost in Auckland?

It depends on the tile, the substrate and how much preparation the area needs, so anyone quoting a rate over the phone is guessing. Large-format tiles, mosaics and anything needing levelling or a membrane all move the number. We quote after seeing the job and itemise it, so you can see what the tiling, the preparation and the waterproofing each cost.

Do you supply the tiles or do I?

Either. Most clients choose and buy their own tiles, which keeps the selection completely open, and we will tell you before you order whether a tile is suitable for the area and what setout it will need. We can also supply through our trade accounts if you would rather it came as one job.

Do you do the waterproofing as well as the tiling?

Yes, and we prefer to. The membrane under the tiles is what keeps water out of the structure, so when one crew installs both there is no gap between trades and no argument about responsibility later. For consented work we issue the PS3 producer statement ourselves.

How long does a bathroom take to tile?

A straightforward bathroom is usually a few days of tiling, but the honest answer includes the waiting: substrate preparation, then membrane coats with proper curing time before any tile goes down, then grouting and silicone. We give you the sequence and the working days at quote stage so you can plan around it.

Do you take on commercial work?

Yes. Apartments, hospitality, retail and building-manager maintenance programmes. Commercial jobs come with their own requirements for programme, site inductions and health and safety, which is why we hold Site Safe membership and work to the specified standards rather than domestic habits.
