Soundproofing Auckland

Reduce noise, improve comfort, and create a quieter, more private space.

Why Soundproofing Matters

In Auckland homes, noise transfer between rooms, floors, and neighbouring properties is a common issue – especially in townhouses, apartments, and older builds.

Standard walls are not designed to block sound effectively, which leads to constant disturbance from voices, TVs, footsteps, and outside noise.

Soundproofing helps you:

  • Reduce noise between rooms and floors
  • Improve privacy in living and sleeping areas
  • Block external noise from traffic or neighbours
  • Create a more comfortable, stress-free environment

In Auckland, everyday noise travels easily – through walls, ceilings, and shared spaces – turning comfort into constant distraction.

That’s why proper soundproofing isn’t just an upgrade. It’s a necessity.

At Dakom Tiling, we design and install systems that actually reduce noise where it matters. No shortcuts. No guesswork. Just solid methods and precise execution that deliver real results.

We use proven systems designed to reduce sound transmission – not just absorb it.

Our approach focuses on building the right wall or floor structure to limit how sound travels through surfaces.

Typical solutions include:

  • Acoustic insulation within walls and ceilings
  • Double-layer plasterboard systems
  • Resilient channels to reduce vibration transfer
  • Soundproofing upgrades during renovations
  • Targeted solutions for specific noise problems

Every system is tailored to your space and the type of noise you’re dealing with.

Where Soundproofing Makes the Biggest Impact

soundproofing where works dakom tiling auckland

Soundproofing delivers the best results where noise is most noticeable – and most disruptive to daily life. In many Auckland homes, sound travels easily through standard wall and ceiling structures, especially in shared or multi-level spaces.

By targeting the right areas, you can significantly improve comfort, privacy, and overall quality of living.

High-impact areas include:

  • Bedrooms – reduce noise for better sleep and a more restful environment
  • Home offices – create a quieter, more focused workspace
  • Shared walls – minimise noise transfer between neighbouring homes or rooms
  • Ceilings between floors – reduce footsteps and impact noise from above
  • Media rooms and studios – improve sound control and listening experience

Whether you’re dealing with external noise, neighbouring properties, or internal sound transfer, the key is applying the right solution in the right place – not just adding insulation, but building a system that actually limits how sound moves through your home.

Nebo did an outstanding job on our 2 bathrooms. From the very beginning, he was incredibly thorough during the quoting process, asking lots of detailed questions to make sure he fully understood exactly what we wanted. His workmanship is excellent, with impressive attention to detail throughout, and the final result not only matched our vision but exceeded our expectations. We are so pleased with the quality of his work and would highly recommend Dakom tiling to anyone looking for a skilled, professional and reliable tiler.

Nebo and his team of tilers did a 1st class job of our bathroom renovation. Very high level attention to detail with flawless mitre joints and they really took their time getting our herringbone pattern lined up and symmetrical around our shower niche. Great communication, always turned up on time & tided up afterwards. If you’re looking for a very good tiler, at a reasonable price point I would contact Nebo & lock it in. Will be recommending Dakom Tiling to our friends & family for sure.

We’ve used Dakom Tiling Ltd on multiple projects for bathroom tiling and waterproofing, and they’ve been consistently solid.
The workmanship is top quality — clean lines, good attention to detail, and everything finished properly. Their waterproofing is done right, which is critical, and gives us confidence handing over to clients.
They’re reliable, turn up when they say they will, and get through the work without dragging things out. Easy to deal with on site and don’t need to be micromanaged.
Overall, very happy with their work and we’ll continue using them for bathroom tiling and waterproofing moving forward.

FAQs

Got questions? Here’s everything you need to know before hiring a tiler

No – and this is one of the most common misconceptions.

In real-world conditions, no system can eliminate 100% of sound. However, a properly designed soundproofing solution can significantly reduce noise levels, often making the difference between constant disturbance and a much quieter, more comfortable space.

The goal is not absolute silence, but meaningful noise reduction that improves daily living.

Yes, but only to a certain extent.

Standard insulation (like glasswool or polyester) can reduce some sound, but on its own, it won’t solve serious noise issues. Effective soundproofing requires a combination of insulation, added mass (like plasterboard), and systems that reduce vibration transfer.

Insulation is just one part of a complete system – not the full solution.

The most effective approach is using a layered system, not a single product.

In Auckland homes, this typically includes acoustic insulation inside the wall, double-layer plasterboard, and components that reduce vibration transfer between structures.

Sound travels through building materials, so the key is to limit how it moves through walls and ceilings, not just absorb it.

In most cases, yes.

With many Auckland homes featuring shared walls, multi-level layouts, and close neighbours, noise transfer is a common issue. Soundproofing can significantly improve comfort, privacy, and overall quality of living – especially in bedrooms and home offices.

Even moderate improvements can make a noticeable difference day to day.

Yes – and this is very common in Auckland.

Most soundproofing projects are done during renovations or upgrades, where systems are added to existing walls or ceilings. While full reconstruction isn’t always required, the solution needs to be tailored to how sound is currently travelling through the space.

A targeted approach delivers the best results without unnecessary work.
