Splashbacks, Floors & Feature Walls – Kitchen Tiling Built to Last
Most tiling jobs look fine on the day. The difference shows up six months later – in grout that stains, tiles that sound hollow, or joints that open up along the benchtop.
At Dakom Tiling, we’ve been tiling Auckland kitchens since 2016. The work we’re known for isn’t just how it looks when we leave – it’s how it holds up after two years of daily cooking, cleaning, and everything else a New Zealand kitchen handles.

What We Actually Do Before We Tile Anything
This is where most tiling jobs either go right or wrong. Before any tile goes down, every Dakom project includes:
- Substrate Assessment – We check what we’re tiling onto. An unstable or contaminated substrate causes tiles to crack and lift – often within months. We identify and address issues before they become your problem.
- Level Checks Across the Full Surface – Even small levelling errors become obvious in a finished kitchen. We work to a consistent plane and document it before installation begins.
- Layout Planning from Key Visual Points – Where the layout starts determines how it finishes. We plan from the most visible reference points in the room – not from the nearest corner.
- Grout and Material Consultation – We stock and install epoxy grout where appropriate. In high-use kitchen areas it outperforms standard cement grout significantly – non-porous, stain-resistant, and built for the environment it’s going into.
Tile Types We Install
- Ceramic and porcelain tiles
- Large format tiles (including 1200mm+ slabs)
- Natural stone and marble
- Mosaic tiles
- Textured and decorative tiles
- Epoxy grout systems for heavy-use areas
Who We Work With
Since 2016, we’ve completed kitchen tiling for:
- Homeowners renovating existing kitchens
- Architects and interior designers requiring trade partnership
- Kitchen companies needing a reliable tiling contractor
- New build project managers across Auckland
If you have a tile already selected, we’ll work with it. If you’re still deciding, we’ll help you make a choice you won’t regret once the kitchen is in use.
The Jobs We’re Built For
We work across all kitchen types and sizes – compact inner-city apartments, large open-plan family homes, and high-specification renovations where the margin for error is zero. Our team brings the same standard to a splashback replacement as to a full kitchen floor and wall project. The job size changes. The approach doesn’t.
Kitchen Tiling Services We Offer
Splashback Tiling
The most visible surface in your kitchen deserves more than a straight tile and a bead of silicone. We plan splashback layouts around your cabinetry lines, powerpoints, and rangehood – so every cut is intentional and every joint is consistent.
We work with subway tiles, large slab formats, textured tiles, and decorative feature tiles. Whatever the look you’re going for, we’ll tell you honestly what works in a kitchen environment and what doesn’t.
Kitchen Floor Tiling
Kitchen floors take more punishment than almost any other surface in a home. We advise on slip resistance, tile thickness, and correct sizing before any material is ordered because the wrong tile in the wrong space creates problems no amount of good installation can fix. We install ceramic, porcelain, large format, natural stone, and marble flooring across Auckland residential & commercial properties.
Feature Wall Tiling
For open-plan kitchens, a well-tiled feature wall does more than look good – it anchors the kitchen zone within the wider living space.
We install feature walls that work with your layout, not against it.
